Code of Conduct For Members of Burnley Cricket Club

Burnley Cricket Club is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all its members. The club believes that it is important that members, coaches, administrators and parents associated with the club should, at all times, show respect encouraged to be open at all times and to share any concerns or complaints that they may have about any aspect of the club with the Club Chairman, or any member of the Management Committee.

As a member of Burnley Cricket Club, you are expected to abide by the following rules:

  • All members must respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of gender, ability, cultural background, age, sexuality, social/economic status or religion and treat everyone equally within the context of cricket

  • All members must play within the rules and respect officials and their decisions • All members should recognise fair play and applaud the good performances of all

  • All members must use correct and proper language at all times

  • All members should treat officials, other members and visitors with respect at all times

  • Volunteers and members should develop an appropriate working relationship with participants/members based on mutual trust and respect

  • Members and visitors are not allowed to smoke on club premises

  • Junior members are not allowed to consume alcohol on the club premises or whilst representing the club

  • Adult members should remember that they serve as a role model for junior members

  • Members must pay any fees promptly

  • All members will follow all guidelines laid down by the ECB and the club


Junior Section Rules

As a member of Burnley Cricket Club, Juniors members are expected to abide by the following Junior Club rules:

  • All members must play within the rules and respect officials and their decisions

  • All members must respect opponents

  • Members should keep to agreed timings for training and competitions or inform their coach or team manager of they are going to be late

  • Members must wear suitable kit for training and match sessions, as agreed with the coach/team manager. Full whites are not required for training but members must wear a white shirt for these sessions

  • Members must pay any fees for training or events promptly

  • Junior members are not allowed to smoke, consume alcohol or drugs of any kind on Club premises or whilst representing the Club

Code of Conduct for Parents/Guardians

  • Encourage your child to learn the rules and play within them

  • Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials

  • Help your child to recognise good performance, not just results

  • Never force your child to take part in sport

  • Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding the good performances of all

  • Never punish or belittle a child for losing or making mistakes

  • Publicly accept officials’ judgements

  • Support your child’s involvement and help them to enjoy their sport

  • Use correct and proper language
