New club professional, Asif Zakir makes his BCC debut this Sunday, 29th April, as the First XI travel over to Todmorden.
Asif is an experienced First Class cricketer, having scored nearly 10,500 First Class and List A runs, including 29 hundreds and 47 fifties. He was called up to the Pakistan Test and ODI squad last year although he just missed out on selection in the final XI. He also bowls good off spin although not used extensively at first class level, he is an extremely capable bowler.
He has a decade of UK league experience, including 3 seasons at Greenmount from 2011-2013, winning the treble including the LCB cup in 2011. He has scored circa 1,000 runs and taken a minimum of 40 wickets in every full league season he has played.
He joins the ranks as another recent Pakistani professional, with Chris Holt's predecessors being widely-popular Adnan Rasool and Immy Wasim, respectively.
Like when Arsenal sign yet another player from a league who gets no UK TV coverage, enjoy a batting montage of Asif's, complete with dramatic 80s movie rock 'track.
Good luck for the season, Asif!
